Self-Storage's Helen Ng Appointed to Ray of Hope Board
The self-storage industry marks a new milestone in corporate social responsibility (CSR) leadership with the appointment of Helen Ng, Chief Executive Officer of General Storage Company and Chair of the Self Storage Association Asia (SSAA), to the Board of Ray of Hope, a Singapore charity with Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status.
Ray of Hope is dedicated to addressing emerging and unmet social needs in Singapore by providing transparent crowdfunding support to individuals and families in crisis. As a newly appointed Board Member and active participant on the charity’s Fundraising Committee, Helen brings to the organisation her strategic leadership, operational experience, and deep commitment to building sustainable community impact.
Her appointment underscores the growing recognition of the self-storage industry’s role in advancing CSR and good governance. Under Helen’s leadership, General Storage Company -operator of Lock+Store in Singapore and Malaysia, and The Store House in Hong Kong - has championed numerous community initiatives, including partnerships with Ray of Hope and Hong Kong Dog Rescue, reflecting the company’s belief that businesses can and should be a force for good.
“I’m deeply honoured to join the Board of Ray of Hope,” said Helen Ng, CEO of General Storage Company. “At its heart, Ray of Hope embodies the same values that guide our work at General Storage Company - empathy, transparency, and a commitment to creating lasting impact. This appointment represents how industries like ours can contribute meaningfully beyond the business sphere.”
Helen’s appointment represents not only a personal achievement but also a milestone for the self-storage community, demonstrating how the sector’s leadership continues to extend its influence into the wider social and charitable ecosystem.
