Self Storage Week Launches In the UK Next week

In celebration of the UK self storage industry, Access Self Storage, the high street self-storage business with 57 sites across the UK, has created Self Storage Week.  Taking place from June 23-27 and backed by major industry players including Access Self Storage and Britannia Movers, and featured on the global awareness calendar at daysoftheyear.com, this week long initiative highlights the vital role that self-storage plays for individuals, families, and businesses across the country.

Industry Kick Off: Online Webinar

The week launches with an industry webinar (Online Webinar) on June 23 at 11am, and is open to all professionals in the self-storage sector. It will feature industry experts such as:

• Michael Dogger, CEO, R6 Digital
• Helen Bourke, Director of Operations, Self Storage Association
• Paul Cole, Senior Regional Operations Manager, Access Self Storage
• Oli Averty and Wahid Akram, Regional Managers at Access Self Storage

Educational Content & Expert Guidance

Throughout the week, Access Self Storage in partnership with Britannia Movers will release a series of educational content pieces online, offering advice and expert insight on how self storage can support life transitions, streamline business operations, and help make the most of available space, whether for the home or workplace.

There are several charity campaigns planned.

Declutter to Donate: garage sized storage units opened to public for good cause

• 11 Access Self Storage sites across the UK will each open a 100 sq ft storage unit (the size of an average garage) to collect donated household items from local communities
• These items will be passed on to Cancer Research UK for resale in their almost 600 high street shops, helping to raise vital funds for life-saving research

Fundraising on Foot: Access Self Storage Staff Step Up for 13 mile walk across London to raise funds for CRUK

• 25 members of Access Self Storage staff, from sites across the UK, will take part in a half marathon, fundraising walk, raising money for Cancer Research UK. The route begins at Access Self Storage Fulham and visits six London Access locations - Chelsea, Battersea, Acre Lane, Bermondsey, Islington - finishing at Kings Cross. All donations raised will directly support the charity’s mission.

Bracknell BID Event: Supporting small businesses with smart storage

• On June 26, Access Self Storage Bracknell will host a Bracknell BID networking event, spotlighting how self storage can play a crucial role in the growth of local small businesses. Featuring presentations from three local businesses, the event will provide practical insight into operational efficiencies, facilitate growth for business storage users, inventory management, and flexible commercial solutions.

Behind the Shutter: Talking heads documentary

• Rounding off the week, Access Self Storage will debut a documentary, offering an exclusive behind the scenes look at daily life in the industry. Featuring talking heads from front line team members, it aims to lift the lid on how self storage facilities are run, the people behind the scenes, and the customers they serve.
