IREGC Founder John Gilliland Releases Autobiography
Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC) founder and CEO John Gilliland has released “Farm Boy in the Fast Lane,” an autobiography detailing his journey from growing up in rural Pennsylvania to building a national self-storage business.
Released in August, the book traces Gilliland’s upbringing in Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania, his early entrepreneurial ventures and the risks, setbacks, opportunities and relationships that shaped his career and ultimately led to the creation of IREGC.
“This book is about much more than building a successful business,” Gilliland said. “It’s about the people, experiences and lessons that shaped my life along the way. I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors, trusted partners, loyal clients, dedicated employees, supportive family members and lasting friendships. Success is rarely the result of one person.”
Gilliland founded IREGC in 1998, following his first self-storage brokerage transaction in 1997. The York-based company has since expanded into a national self-storage operator, developing, building, acquiring and operating more than 100 facilities under the Moove In Self Storage brand across the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest.
In “Farm Boy in the Fast Lane,” Gilliland combines personal stories with lessons from his business career, addressing entrepreneurship, leadership, resilience, integrity, hard work and the role relationships have played in his success.
“My hope is that people will see some of themselves in these stories,” Gilliland said. “Maybe it encourages an entrepreneur to think a little bigger, gives a future business leader the confidence to pursue an opportunity or simply reminds someone that failure is part of the journey. You learn, you keep moving and you enjoy the ride.”
Gilliland is donating all proceeds from the book to two organizations: the Self Storage Association Foundation Scholarship Fund and Pink Power, a 501(c)(3) organization founded by his wife, Denise, that assists local breast cancer patients in need.
“Farm Boy in the Fast Lane” is available through FarmBoyFastLane.com, Amazon and local bookstores. The website also provides information about upcoming book signings, speaking engagements, media appearances and launch events.
