Drug Dealer Locks Customer In Storage Unit For Over Two Months
A South Florida man is facing kidnapping charges after authorities say he locked a customer inside a storage unit for months while exploiting him for drug money.
According to the Davie Police Department, officers responded March 1 to Access Self Storage after a caller reported someone screaming for help inside a unit.
Fire rescue crews cut the lock and discovered a 58-year-old man inside the unit, which investigators described in an arrest affidavit as being in “complete disarray” with a strong odor coming from several five-gallon buckets filled with feces and urine.
The victim told authorities he had been locked inside the unit since November 2025 by his drug dealer, whom he knew as “Tray.” Police later identified the suspect as 49-year-old Oscar Moses Badger, who rented the storage unit, according to jail records.
Investigators say the victim had recently become homeless and began purchasing crack and fentanyl from the suspect. He told police he expected to repay the debt using monthly benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs totaling about $7,000.
The victim said he eventually owed Badger roughly $3,000. At one point, he was taken to an apartment in nearby Lauderhill where he was beaten.
Authorities say Badger later placed the man inside the storage unit, where he was given drugs but locked inside and unable to leave.
The victim also told investigators the suspect took his bank and VA cards and forced him to call his bank to increase withdrawal limits. Badger would then drive him to withdraw money, which he kept, according to the affidavit.
Badger was arrested last week and booked into the Broward Sheriff's Office jail on a kidnapping charge. As of Tuesday, jail records show he remained behind bars without bond.
