Area Evacuated Due To Bomb Scare At Self-Storage Facility
Police were called to the scene of a self-storage facility in West Warwick, Rhode Island this past Friday for what turned out to be a false alarm.
The police presence was due to a report made by workers at Lil Rhody Storage, located at 100 Pulaski Street, when they discovered a suspicious package during a routine unit cleaning. The bag contained what police described as “several military style Claymore mines."
The facility and surrounding area, including a daycare, were evacuated out of caution. Police blocked off the roadway and called in the state bomb squad, who determined the mines were inert. "There was never any danger to the public," said officials. The scene was cleared about an hour later.
