U-Haul And Devon Self Storage Help DIY Movers

U-Haul is beefing up its footprint in western Massachusetts thanks to a new partnership aimed at helping DIY movers get where they’re going without the usual chaos.

U-Haul Co. of Massachusetts and Ohio, Inc. has added Devon Self Storage Springfield, at 2155 East Columbus Avenue, to its network of neighborhood dealers. The facility will now rent U-Haul trucks and stock moving supplies for customers in Springfield and nearby communities.

The Devon Springfield location will offer rentals during its standard hours: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Customers can book trucks, trailers, and other equipment by calling 413-737-6180 or by visiting the U-Haul website.

Owner Chuck Gamm said the partnership is a practical way to better serve residents and small businesses throughout Hampden County.

U-Haul has leaned on locally owned dealers since 1945, giving small businesses a way to earn extra income while supporting movers in their communities. More than 21,000 independent dealers operate across the U.S. and Canada today.

Because these aren’t franchises, businesses don’t buy in or pay fees. They simply dedicate space for U-Haul equipment and assist customers with rentals.

The company also pointed to its Moving Help program, which connects customers with labor-only providers for loading, unloading, packing, cleaning, and other tasks. More than 7,800 independently rated helpers are available.
