RK Kliebenstein Joins Storage Stats As Brand Ambassador
Storage Stats has appointed self-storage industry veteran RK Kliebenstein as Brand Ambassador, adding an experienced acquisitions executive, consultant and author to the company's team.
In the new role, Kliebenstein will represent Storage Stats at industry events and work with self-storage operators, developers and investors. He also will contribute to product development and work alongside Storage Stats Founder and CEO Martin Dimitrov as the company expands its brand.
Kliebenstein brings decades of experience across acquisitions, development, underwriting and self-storage investment. He began his career as Director of Acquisitions at Amsdell and Stor-All Systems before joining Extra Space Storage after Prudential provided funding for the company's acquisition. He served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions & Integration at Extra Space, where he helped develop due diligence tools and processes that supported the company's growth.
During his tenure at Extra Space, Kliebenstein underwrote nearly $3 billion in self-storage transactions and closed more than $400 million in sales. Extra Space Storage went public in 2004.
Kliebenstein joined Metro Storage as Vice President, Acquisitions in 2011. During an eight-year engagement with the company, he built a portfolio encompassing core, development and value-add transactions, contributing to $220 million in deals and more than $400 million in development. His work also included $3.6 billion in sourced opportunities during a single 12-month period.
He founded Coast-To-Coast Storage in 2000, a company now known as Self-Storage, LLC, where he remains president. His industry experience also includes serving as a subject matter expert product consultant to StorTrack and as a consulting partner to Social Explorer on the development of Tract IQ. He previously served as Brand Ambassador for iPostal1.
Kliebenstein is also the author of three books focused on self-storage investment and operations: How To Invest in Self-Storage (2005), How To Make Money in Self-Storage (2008), and How To Make MORE Money in Self-Storage (2008). He is currently developing The Municipal Guide to Developing Self Storage.
“I am thrilled to serve as Brand Ambassador for Storage Stats. Bringing a best-in-class product at a price point that puts great data within reach of developers large and small is exactly the kind of work I want to be doing. I've used and tested the product myself, and it's impressive. I'm proud to be part of the team,” said Kliebenstein.
Dimitrov said Kliebenstein's experience across multiple stages of self-storage investment will also contribute to the development of Storage Stats' products.
“We’re excited. It’s not often you find an industry veteran eager to share their decades of experience. RK has been on every side of a self-storage deal: buying facilities, building facilities, underwriting them, and teaching others how they can do it too. He is precise, he knows the data that matters, and he has been hands-on with Storage Stats. Putting that experience into the product is a big gain for us and for the operators and investors who use Storage Stats,” said Martin Dimitrov, Founder and CEO of Storage Stats.
