Montreal Mini Storage Opens New Facility For Women, Designed By Women
Montreal Mini-Storage (MMS), Quebec’s largest self-storage provider, inaugurated its 24th location on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 500 Sauvé Ouest. This groundbreaking facility is the first in the world to be designed by women, for women - redefining how storage serves modern life.
In an industry historically shaped by men, MMS is reshaping the narrative with a space that prioritizes safety, accessibility, design, and community- specifically for women entrepreneurs, artists, and changemakers.
“Women drive the majority of household decisions, including how space is organized and used,” says Margaux Chetrit, Director of Business Development at Montreal MiniStorage and Founder of Ladies Who Launch. “It was time to rethink storage from the ground up and place it in the hands of the very people shaping our cities, economies, and futures.”
The inauguration was a vibrant celebration featuring food, live music, and an immersive art showcase by ArtMarket, a women-led platform that spotlights emerging female artists. Ahuntsic-Cartierville Mayor Émilie Thuillier lead the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, recognizing the project’s contribution to inclusive urban development. The program will also include remarks by Hayley Newman-Petryshyn, co-director of Monthly Dignity, a new tenant whose mission to end period poverty aligns with MMS’s broader commitment to social equity and community-driven solutions.
Guests were invited on a guided discovery tour of the space, offering an exclusive look at the art installations, entrepreneurial tenants, and the unique design features that set this facility apart. As part of its dedication to economic empowerment, MMS also offered discounted storage rates for women-led ventures - priced at 82 cents on the dollar to reflect the gender wage gap and help level the playing field for female founders.
This world-first initiative is proudly powered by Ladies Who Launch, Avenir Properties' platform devoted to advancing women in business through infrastructure, mentorship, and access to opportunity.
