Massive Fire At Kennards Self Storage Considered Suspicious [Video]
A massive fire broke out at Kennards Self Storage in Port Melbourne, Australia around 8:30pm on Saturday, shutting down a nearby freeway and bringing out nine response units.
Footage shared on social media shows out-of-control flames tearing through the storage facility, as nearby trees are engulfed and a huge plume of black smoke hangs over the city.
Firefighters battled the blaze for over an hour. Despite the enormity of the fire, which also resulted in a grass fire that spread to a nearby building, they had it contained after just an hour and extinguished by 9:47pm, with no injuries reported.
"Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes..." a spokesperson for Fire Rescue Victoria said. "Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, escalated the response and quickly contained the grass fire."
Victoria Police stated the the fire is under investigation and is being treated as suspicious. They urge anyone who witnessed anything or with information to contact Crime Stoppers:
