Workshop Fire Spreads To Attic Self Storage In London
A fire that began at a nearby workshop in Barking, London spread to Attic Self Storage on Ripple Road in the early hours of Saturday, December 14. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived on the scene at approximately 4:30 AM after multiple calls came in reporting smoke coming from the area.
More than six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were dispatched to tackle the flames. Firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control, with crews remaining on the scene into the morning to extinguish hotspots and assess the damage. Ultimately, the workshop was completely destroyed while Attic Self Storage only suffered aesthetic damage. There were no injuries.
Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, resulting from an electrical fault in the workshop.
An LFB spokesperson praised the public for their vigilance, stating, "The quick actions of the passer-by to alert us to the fire ensured our crews were able to respond swiftly and prevent further spread to adjacent properties.”
