Halloween Displays Scare Up New Business
"Love their Halloween exhibit. Coolest self storage place ever," writes Michael R. from Rancho Cordova, California on Yelp when reviewing Burbank Self Storage.
Each year, the facility puts up a ghoulish Halloween display that anyone is welcome to walk through, and it's become a tradition for many (plus a great way to attract new tenants).

Of course, Burbank isn't the only facility to scare up business with a Halloween display. Arcos Self Storage, with eight locations in California, dresses up its facilities for the spooky season and produces a number of YouTube shorts that drop throughout the month. Manhattan Mini Storage, which has been making headlines for its politically-themed billboards, environmentally-themed murals, and comedy shows, is also getting in on the act. It has hosted events that included trick-or-treating, face-painting, costumed characters, prizes, music, and more.
"When you get involved in your local community you both create enormous goodwill and set up your business for greater success," writes The Business Journal. "Community involvement is a form of marketing, but it's not all about the bottom line. Being involved with the community members who purchase your products and services is a tangible and satisfying way to give back."
According to the US Chamber of Commerce, 80 percent of small business owners in America included community service and community events in their mission plans. And, it's paying off. 66 percent of say this has had an impact on customer retention, 68 percent say that the community has helped create new leads, and 55 percent say the community has contributed to an increase in sales.
Something to consider when the next holiday – or the next Halloween – rolls around!
