Bluebird Self Storage Hosts Community Halloween Event, 500+ Attend

Snow and cold couldn’t keep the Calgary community away from Bluebird Self Storage this weekend, as their 5411 Dufferin Blvd location transformed into a scary-good Halloween hangout (be sure to check out the video at the end of this story!).

The event, held Saturday, October 25, offered a warm, wheelchair-accessible space for trick-or-treating and fun—complete with a quiet room for anyone who needed a sensory break.

The idea sprang from site manager Allyson Bradley, who then approached Great White Car Wash to secure their involvement. Next, Bluebird invited local businesses to “adopt” storage units, decorating them in creative, spooky, or funny styles where kids could trick-or-treat safely indoors.

The response was overwhelming: more than 500 people attended, with the celebration even catching the eye of a local news outlet, shining a spotlight on how Bluebird gives back to its community. Check out the coverage here.

“This event was about making Halloween accessible and enjoyable for everyone,” said Bradley. “Seeing so many smiling faces—kids, parents, and volunteers alike—was incredible.”

Adding heart to the fun, the event also served as a fundraiser for Rise & Shine Adult Day Programs, a local nonprofit serving young adults with special needs. Attendees helped raise an impressive $2,000 for the organization’s ongoing efforts to help participants “Rise and Shine—and be their best!”

Local businesses and volunteers were instrumental in making the event a success. Decorated units and candy stations were hosted by:

  • Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF)
  • Josh Barnett, Professional Excavators and Construction Inc.
  • Destiny Baxter & Maxwell Copeland, High Torque
  • Shaun Bourdreau, EXP Realty
  • Jeremy & Rylee Bradley
  • Meghan Cummings, Legacy Heating and Cooling
  • Karina Friday
  • Quinn Fulton, Blue Planet
  • Antonio Garia
  • Stacey Lush, Lush Mortgage Connection
  • Tim Morrish, Gear Valet
  • Anderson Silva Oliveira
  • Rise & Shine
  • Rodrigo Rojas, Planet Fitness
  • Amber Sarota, Shores & Soul

Generous candy donations came from Borger, Christie Lites Sales, Mars, Basu Sachin (Snap On Tools), and Springbank Electrical.

Bluebird staff and family members from several sites also pitched in to make sure the event ran seamlessly. “We’re truly grateful to everyone who contributed,” said Bradley. “We can’t wait to make next year’s event even bigger and better. Anyone interested in participating can contact any Calgary Bluebird location to join in the fun.”
