StorageMart/MMS Now Managing 27 Former Metro Storage Locations
StorageMart and Manhattan Mini Storage’s Third Party Management division has announced a major portfolio expansion with the onboarding of 27 self storage properties previously managed by Metro Storage. Spanning more than 2 million net rentable square feet and comprising 18,672 units, these facilities are now operating under the StorageMart or Manhattan Mini Storage brands.
The move significantly strengthens the company’s position as a top-tier provider of third party management services in the self storage industry. With the integration complete, the company now offers enhanced national coverage, particularly in suburban and secondary markets across seven states: Illinois, New Jersey, Minnesota, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Locations Rebranded as StorageMart:
- Minnesota: Blaine, Burnsville, Coon Rapids, Eagan
- Illinois: Mundelein, Buffalo Grove, Lake Bluff, Northbrook, Deerfield, Skokie, Addison, Naperville, St. Charles
- New Jersey: Mount Laurel, Wall Township
- Pennsylvania: Doylestown, Line Lexington, Chadds Ford
- Wisconsin: Brown Deer
- Florida: Spring Hill, Wesley Chapel
Locations Rebranded as Manhattan Mini Storage:
- New Jersey: Monmouth Junction, Springfield, Randolph, Wood-Ridge, Plainfield
- New York: Westhampton Beach
These facilities now operate within a robust management system offering a variety of unit types, including standard, climate-controlled, and drive-up options. Many locations are equipped with modern amenities such as indoor access, drive-thru loading bays, and 24/7 customer access.
“This collaboration reflects how aligned goals and the right operational partner can create real momentum,” said Herby Bowman, Vice President of Third Party Management. “Our third party management program is designed to efficiently onboard large portfolios while maintaining our focus on performance, service, and lasting value.”
Matthew Nagel, Chairman of Metro Storage LLC, added that the partnership builds on decades of mutual respect and shared vision between the Nagel and Burnam families—early pioneers in the self storage industry.
“As Metro and the Nagel family shift toward a real estate investment and asset management model, teaming with StorageMart to oversee property operations was a natural fit,” said Nagel. “Their culture mirrors ours, and their scale—over 300 locations globally—brings both efficiency and opportunity.”
Now part of the StorageMart and Manhattan Mini Storage Third Party Management umbrella, these sites gain access to industry-leading support systems, including centralized customer service, dynamic pricing strategies, advanced operational tools, and tailored marketing initiatives targeting local markets.
