Emmett “Buster” Owens Announces Rabco Solutions & MakoRabco Retirement
After more than three decades of significant contributions to the self-storage industry, Buster Owens, President of Rabco Solutions and Executive Vice President of MakoRabco, has announced his plan to retire later this year. Buster’s legacy includes the design and construction of millions of square feet of storage space for hundreds of developers across the United States.
Buster started his career as a Civil Engineer at Professional Engineering Consultants, and began working in self-storage in 1987 with Design Build Manufacturing Inc. In 1989, he joined Rabco Enterprises a company founded by Ron Raboud and Larry Cox in 1987, Orlando, Florida, as the Director of Marketing and Sales. In 2009, Buster assumed the role of President and held a crucial role in developing it into one of the self-storage industry's largest firms. Following the acquisition of Rabco Enterprises by Mako Steel in March 2021, Buster played a key leadership role in integrating the two companies.
Over his career, he has fostered the next generation of leadership, who continue to deliver the innovation and excellence in design, engineering, and construction for which MakoRabco is known. Buster will remain close to the business, advising on the execution of the strategy he helped to develop. Over the coming months, Buster is working with the team to ensure a seamless transition.
“Buster has had such an important impact on the self-storage industry and on our company,” said Jim Reinhart, CEO of MakoRabco. “On behalf of everyone at MakoRabco, I extend our deepest gratitude to Buster for his unparalleled service and wish him all the best in his welldeserved retirement later this year.”
