A Hamden, Connecticut man has been taken into custody in connection with a large-scale burglary reported last year at a Norwalk CubeSmart self-storage facility, police said.

Lt. Tomasz Podgorski reported in a news release that the break-in occurred on July 1, 2024, at Cubesmart Self Storage on Bouton Street. Investigators determined that 89 units had been entered and “numerous items, including firearms,” were stolen.

Over the following year, detectives pursued what Podgorski described as an “exhaustive investigation,” which involved executing several search and seizure warrants, reviewing hours of surveillance footage, and working with other law enforcement agencies to track leads and identify suspects.

Their work led to the arrest of Tylon Gardner, 35, of Hamden. Gardner was taken into custody Wednesday on a warrant at Stamford Superior Court, Podgorski said.

He faces multiple charges: five counts each of third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, as well as first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, two counts of firearm theft, and two counts of conspiracy to commit firearm theft.

Gardner’s bond was set at $50,000, and he is expected to appear in court later this month, according to Podgorski.
