The owners of Southfield-based Encore Commercial Products, Inc., the manufacturer of Post Guard bollard covers, announce they have acquired Sureguard Security Products, the only Canadian manufacturer of bollard covers, from Ball Construction Inc.

Bruce Liebowitz and Ron Klein, Encore’s founders and shareholders, formed a Canadian company, Bollard Guard Products Corporation, which purchased Sureguard’s assets and will manage its daily operations. The legal and financial transactions closed on June 12, 2012.

Liebowitz, Encore’s president, said, “This marriage was ideal since Post Guard shipped products daily to Canada and this acquisition allowed us to offer more competitive shipping arrangements for our customers. Canadian customers, especially self-storage facilities, now have one-stop shopping for competitively priced property protection products.”

While the parties have not disclosed the purchase price, Bollard Guard Products Corporation signed a multi-year lease agreement for Sureguard’s warehouse and office space in Kitchener, Ontario. Sureguard’s staff and management will be retained by the new owners.

Bob Vogt, Sureguard’s manager, said, “Sureguard and Post Guard served the same types of business, educational and governmental clientele. We’re excited to offer customers faster access to an expanded product lineup with Post Guard’s impressive choice of products.”

Liebowitz added, “Our products nicely complement each other. Sureguard will have access to many more colors and sizes of bollard covers, and Post Guard will have access to Sureguard’s ability to make longer length bollard covers, and their logo expertise.” All of Sureguard and Post Guard property protection products are fully stocked and ready to ship quickly from the Kitchener warehouse.
