Fire Breaks Out At North Carolina SmartStop Over The Weekend
A fire broke out at a SmartStop Self Storage facility in Hensersonville, North Carolina over the weekend. Firefighters from Blue Ridge Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a fire at approximately 12:11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2.
Upon arrival to the facility, located on 1931 Spartanburg Highway, firefighters noticed smoke coming from the units and found multiple units were on fire.
Crews remained at the scene battling the blaze into the later hours of Saturday morning, and then began focusing on dousing water on the smoldering remains of the affected units.
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation. The extent of the damage remains uncertain, as fire officials have yet to confirm the total number of units impacted by the fire. Concerned unit owners have been advised to contact the facility's management for information regarding potential fire damage to their possessions.
The primary focus now, say officials, is determining the cause of the blaze and ensuring that adequate steps are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
