An Extra Space Storage in Point Loma, California has been battling a homeless problem in a unique way: By playing loud  music from an exterior speaker all day and night.

A homeless tent community sprung up near the facility and it has been nothing but trouble for the facility owners and the neighboring Maritime Institute. The music is designed to keep them away.

"Security is a top priority at Extra Space for our customers and employees," said an Extra Space spokesperson. "After a few unfortunate break-ins from the back fence-line onto our property causing damages, our team has been testing different security measures, including enhanced fences, enhanced lighting and cameras, the additional music, and more."

The storage facility is right next to the Maritime Institute, which is also experiencing problems with the homeless community. "They are stealing property from our training area," said the Institute's CEO Dave Abrams. "They are vandalizing our training area, covering it with graffiti. It is a constant battle."

Those living in the tents are not happy about the music. "You got this blasting. Blasting, blasting. It goes from a 50 to a 20 at night," said 'Lisa,' who lives in a tent behind the facility's fence, regarding to the music. She says it plays the same music on repeat. "It is aggravating. If they want to play a radio station with different music, that would be fine. But the way they are doing this is a form of torture."

Will the tent community pack up and move? Only time will tell.
