The heartland's Border Showdown rivalry has a new title sponsor, as StorageMart has entered a multi-year agreement to present all athletic contests between the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri (Mizzou). It's one of the oldest rivalries in college athletics, dating back to 1891.

“As title sponsor of the StorageMart Border Showdown and longtime Official Storage Partner of both Mizzou and Kansas athletics, we're proud to support the return of this iconic rivalry that brings communities together on both sides of the border,” said StorageMart CEO Cris Burnam. “At StorageMart, we're all about making it easier to create space for the moments and memories that matter — and this is one fans will never forget.”

To mark the launch of the newly branded StorageMart Border Showdown, two potential logos were unveiled on July 10. Fans will choose the official design through an online vote running through July 24, with the winning logo to be announced on July 25. (Place your vote here!)

“StorageMart is a terrific partner from right here in Columbia and their support of Mizzou Athletics over the years has been incredible,” said Laird Veatch, Mizzou Director of Athletics. “Now, we look forward to moving into a new era of the Border Showdown with StorageMart by our side.”

Founded in Columbia, Missouri in 1999, StorageMart has partnered with both Mizzou and Kansas Athletics since 2019. The company operates more than 250 self-storage locations across the U.S., Canada, and the UK, and is now the world’s largest family-owned and privately operated self-storage business.

“We’re thrilled to have StorageMart enhance their commitment to the Jayhawks,” said Travis Goff, University of Kansas Director of Athletics. “Their continued support and understanding of this unique rivalry makes them the ideal partner for the StorageMart Border Showdown.”

The partnership was arranged by Mizzou Sports Properties and Jayhawk Sports Properties, the local Learfield teams representing the exclusive multimedia rights for both athletic departments.

Two of the earliest matchups in 2025 will take place in football and men’s basketball. The Tigers and Jayhawks are set to face off in Columbia on Sept. 6 for football, followed by a basketball clash at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on Dec. 7. The women's basketball teams will also rekindle their rivalry at T-Mobile Arena on Nov. 15.
