Public Storage is getting into the spirit of the spooky season with "Don’t Watch," a horror mini-series created in partnership with The Infinite Agency. The shorts, which have already racked up more than 300,000 views on various social media platforms, will run through Halloween.
Public Storage and The Infinite Agency enlisted filmmakers including Emmy Award-winning writer and filmmaker Brandon Walker, Elaine Frost, Eric Orange, and Jesse Blanchard of Puppetcore to bring the series to life. Just like numerous horror movies of late, like the Liam Neeson-led Cold Storage released earlier this year, the agency understood that "closed doors, quiet corridors and the mystery of what’s inside the units" makes storage a natural setting for the series’ self-aware take on horror.
Each content creator brought a distinct take on the setting, with the films presented as numbered video files. They include:
The series closes with the reassurance that while these stories may be scary, storing with Public Storage is not.
“There’s something about a closed door that gets your imagination going. We wanted to have a little fun with that for Halloween,” said Tim McCarthy, executive creative director at The Infinite Agency. “We consume our daily content in our palms. With longer narratives like micro-dramas trending up on social, we decided to follow suit, tapping into creators who are already creating this type of content,” Tim added.
Claire Terry, social media manager of Public Storage continued, “The biggest thing that we want viewers to take away from the series is that any uneasy feelings or fears they may have had about storage facilities are unfounded. These stories are really supposed to play off of and kind of poke fun at those feelings. We want people to be able to join in on the joke with us and feel connected with the brand in a way they never expected.”
