StorageDefender Inc. and CCStorage have launched a software integration designed to bring unit-level monitoring, tenant subscriptions and facility intelligence into CCStorage’s self-storage management platform.
The integration allows operators to manage StorageDefender Smart Unit enrollment and subscriptions within CCStorage while continuing to use StorageDefender’s Web Management Portal for unit-level analytics and reporting.
The companies said the integration is intended to reduce duplicate data entry and improve the flow of information between property-management and smart-unit systems.
Under the integration, tenants can move from an online rental to an active Smart Unit subscription automatically. Unit status is updated in real time within CCStorage, allowing operators to monitor subscription activity without manually transferring information between platforms.
Operators also can pre-configure, upgrade, downgrade or cancel Smart Unit subscriptions through a single interface. Subscription and occupancy data can be incorporated into CCStorage reporting and business intelligence tools.
“Our customers kept bringing up StorageDefender, so we built this integration around what they were already asking for,” said Benjamin Shirey, CEO and co-founder of CCStorage. “Operators are always looking for more revenue per unit, and this is one of the few integrations that delivers it directly.”

Family Heirloom Storage, a family-owned operator with 39 facilities across seven Southeastern states, is the first operator to implement the integration.
The company began using StorageDefender Smart Units in April 2025 and subsequently transitioned its property-management operations to CCStorage.
According to a StorageDefender case study, more than eight in 10 Family Heirloom tenants rented units with the Smart Unit service, generating an additional $144 in annual revenue per enrolled unit.
Family Heirloom expects the integration to support further adoption of the technology as the operator expands its use of both platforms.

The integration is available now. StorageDefender will showcase the technology at Booth 1237 during the Self Storage Association 2026 Fall Conference, scheduled for Sept. 8-11 in Las Vegas.
