The Self Storage Association (SSA) has announced the results of its 2026 Board of Directors election, confirming another clean sweep for the official slate. Congratulations go to Aaron Eldridge (Stor All Self Storage), Shawn Hill (The BSC Group), and Tracy Sells (Harbor Storage Group), who will serve from 2026 to 2028.
The slate system allows members to cast a single vote for pre-selected, SSA-endorsed candidates, which the association describes as a way to present a balanced, vetted team. Joe Doherty, SSA Chief Legal & Legislative Officer, told MSM prior to the election that the committee builds the slate after “considering experience, skill set, and various membership characteristics. This can include company size, geographic distribution, and gender and social characteristics.”
The strategy works. Since at least 2018, the slate has won every election, making this the eighth consecutive victory.
The SSA does not release vote totals, leaving it unclear how much traction, if any, non-slate candidates gained. MSM asked whether the association would share numbers on total votes and the slate’s share of them, to help gauge the real odds for independents. Tom Comi, SSA’s Director of Communications, responded: “The SSA has no comment on [these] questions.”
Individual candidates can beat a slate, but it’s rare. Without transparency on vote margins, no one knows whether the latest race was a landslide or if an upset ever came close.
