OpenTech Alliance, a PropTech leader in self storage, has announced the next generation of its INSOMNIAC® OpenNet™ wireless mesh network hardware, delivering improved performance, expanded range and a 12% reduction in hardware pricing.

Purpose-built for the unique construction and scale of self storage facilities, OpenNet provides the wireless infrastructure that enables connected technologies and reliable Wi-Fi across the property. Available as a standalone wireless solution, the network also serves as the backbone for INSOMNIAC SmartLock® electronic locks and INSOMNIAC SmartMotion™, a unit motion detection solution that allows operators to offer tenants motion alerts as a premium service. For operators, the result is a facility that is easier to manage and capable of supporting new revenue opportunities.

SmartMotion in particular allows operators to increase tenant rental value by offering proactive motion alerts inside individual units as an optional upgrade or premium unit type that can generate recurring monthly revenue while giving tenants greater peace of mind.

The next generation of OpenNet hardware strengthens that foundation, delivering stronger performance in a smaller device. Each unit now includes four integrated antennas, extending reliable coverage across large, metal-intensive storage buildings where cellular networks often struggle. The updated design also reduces the device footprint, making installations faster across properties. OpenTech also lowered OpenNet hardware pricing by 12 percent, reducing the cost of deploying facility-wide wireless infrastructure.

“Operators shouldn’t have to choose between performance and affordability,” said Robert A. Chiti, CEO of OpenTech Alliance. “We enhanced OpenNet with additional antennas and a smaller form factor to improve coverage and ease of deployment, and at the same time reduced pricing to make enterprise-grade wireless networking more accessible across portfolios of any size.”

Wireless infrastructure has become increasingly important as self storage operators deploy more smart devices throughout their facilities. Electronic locks, motion sensors, mobile apps, site management and other operational tools depend on reliable internal networks to function consistently across an entire property.

OpenNet’s wireless mesh architecture eliminates the need for extensive cabling while allowing operators to expand their technology footprint over time. The network scales easily as additional devices are added, supporting both operational efficiency and new tenant-facing services.

Self storage operators interested in learning more about OpenNet, SmartLock or SmartMotion can connect with OpenTech Alliance at the upcoming Self Storage Association Spring Conference & Trade Show, taking place March 18–20 in San Antonio, Texas. OpenTech representatives will be available at booth 402 to demonstrate solutions and discuss how connected technologies are helping operators modernize facility operations.
