Utah Self-Storage Facility Fire Causes Damage, Injury
A fire broke out at a self-storage facility in Marriott-Slaterville, Utah, just after 9:20 a.m. on Monday. Weber County Fire District authorities responded to reports of a structure fire at Ogden Self Storage, located at 1515 S. 1200 West. Upon arrival, the battalion chief saw a large column of smoke and requested additional assistance from Riverdale Fire, Ogden City Fire, and Hill Air Force Base Fire.

Crews launched an "aggressive attack" and contained the to a handful of units, though multiple other units suffered smoke damage. “Our guys got out, took out multiple hose lines and defended on the outside to keep the fire from continuing to spread down through each unit. But the way those units are, there’s a front and a back, too. So, it’s difficult,” Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal David Reed told reporters on the scene. "There were four to five units that were fire damage, that were heavily involved, and then another 14 or 15 that had smoke and water damage.”
One person sustained minor injuries while attempting to put out flame and was treated at the scene. Additionally, a firefighter injured his knee after slipping on ice during a salvage and overhaul process and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The property damage is estimated to be over $100,000.
